We currently have an opening at our Foothill Ranch, CA (Orange County) facility for a Senior Software Engineer. As a Senior Software Engineer on the energy storage systems firmware team you will be responsible for the software development of battery management systems, micro-grids and EV Supply Equipment (EVSE), and successful delivery of assigned functions to meet corporate project/product commitments. The responsibilities include creating functional software specifications, designing, coding, testing, integration, application tuning and delivery. You will be also responsible for designing and implementing tools and methods for validating component firmware using simulation and software in the loop frameworks. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Build advanced and innovative software for energy storage, micro-grid, EVSE and EV powertrain solutions.
- Collaborate with our product, design and infrastructure teams to build or enhance applications and services.
- Design, develop, test, debug and maintain software code for our high-performance energy storage applications.
- Lead development of software design and architecture for new products.
- Interpret customer specifications to define requirements for software design.
- Perform requirement study and software coverage analysis for software code base.
- Capture and document software product to meet qualification standards.
- Collaborate with Electronics Engineers and Embedded Systems developers to implement solutions that are aligned with product direction.
- Consults with other technical leads to ensure that project-related system design guidelines are being followed. Responsible for writing Functional Software Designs.
- Provides maintenance of ESS application functionality, including code fixes, documentation, and user interfaces.
Required Skills:
- Greater than 5 years of experience as a SW engineer
- Experience in one or more of:IoT development
- JavaScript
- .Net
- Net
- WebAPI
- Good knowledge of SQL Server/TSQL or other database technology, but does not need to be an administrator.
- Strong C#, C++ or C and a proficiency in a common scripting language like Python, Java, Python, MATLAB, etc.
- Excellent software design and architecture skills.
- Source Version Control experience: CVS, Git and/or Subversion.
- Linux working experience and Linux RT desired.
- Understanding of embedded systems concepts (CAN, SPI, I2C, TCP/IP).
- Adept with communication protocols, such as RS-232, RS-485, and Ethernet
- Networking knowledge and protocols (TCP/IP, UDP, DNS, XMPP, HTTP, MSRP, XCAP, SOAP, DNP, etc.).
- Experience with IoT sensors and remoting such Raspberry PI, LoraWAN, Zigbee among others.
- Solid experience in embedded real-time systems software design.
- Good understanding of the EMS, SCADA and DMS software.
- Experience in development and releasing software products meeting highly regulated and safety critical standards.
- Able to work as a key member of the design team with Power Electronics Engineers, Digital and Analog Engineers, System Engineers, Control System Engineers and Mechanical Engineers.
- Successful deployment of production code at scale.
- Foundational understanding of electronic systems and analog and digital circuits desired.
- Experience with low power or high power battery and charging systems desired.
- Good understanding of power systems (micro-grids) and energy management systems.
Software Knowledge and Skills:
- 3-5 years of experience working with mathematical models, control algorithms and software development.
- Solid experience in embedded real-time systems software design.
- Experienced in embedded C and C++ programming. Knowledge of Python is beneficial.
Education:
- BS or MS Degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering or the equivalent in experience with evidence of exceptional ability.
